Some abbreviations used in the chat room are:

asl or a/s/l - age/sex/location
<ding> - hello, are you there? etc.
h r u? - how are you?
IC - in character
lol - laughs out loud
plz - please
pm - personal message
r u - are you
*action*- denotes a character performing the action in the asterisks
o O (whatever) - what is inside the brackets is said out of character
